Prices
Weekend Open events are free and drop-in, however some will need to be booked in advance. The museum's new permanent exhibition, Designer Maker User, is free to explore, however tickets must be purchased for Beazley Designs of the Year and Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World.

Arup: design for a changing world

Location: Ulm and Bauhaus rooms, Level 1
Arup invites you to explore key issues affecting the future of the built environment in this fun, interactive activity.

Blow-up design

Location: Atrium, Ground Floor
Grab a balloon modelled on some of the design icons of the 21st century.

Paper Play

Location: Creative workshop, Level 1
Draw, make and create an abstract paper city and see how the collective build grows organically over the weekend.

Young Creatives pop-up

Location: Design Studio, Level 1
Help the museum’s young creatives build a growing wall of memories, charting your favourite moments from Weekend Open.

Walking tours

Location: Sackler Library and Archive, Level 1
Join a museum-curating masters student from the Sackler Library and Archive for a special walking tour of the architectural features of the building.

Bare Conductive interactive sound space

Location: Common room, Level 1
Explore and interact with Bare Conductive sensor technology to generate your own soundscapes and audio.

Family explorer kits

Location: Work in Progress table, Level 2
Select a family activity box to help you create your own micro city or create your own graphic, fashion or product designs. Created by Miller Goodman.

Illustrated storytelling adventure

Location: The Bakala Auditorium, Level -1
Watch live illustration story-telling and get expert tips to improve your own drawing techniques. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Hair by Hood

Location: Helene and Johannes Huth Gallery, Level 2
Designer in Residence Alix Bizet helps you explore the design potential of human hair and its power to untangle stories and identities.

Insight architecture talks

Free Display: For the first time in the museum’s history it will have a free permanent display of its collection: Designer Maker User tells the story of contemporary design through these three interconnected roles.

Designers in Residence 2016: Open

Free Display: The museum asked designers to submit creative responses to this year’s theme OPEN. This year's residents are Rain Wu, Alix Bizet, Clementine Blakemore and Andrea de Chirico.
