Weekend Open

Join the Design Museum as it reopens its doors in a stunning new home in Kensington, west London. Weekend Open features free workshops, installations, talks and performances for all ages. You can also be among the first to see the opening exhibitions – Beazley Designs of the Year and Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World exhibitions.

Prices
Weekend Open events are free and drop-in, however some will need to be booked in advance. The museum's new permanent exhibition, Designer Maker User, is free to explore, however tickets must be purchased for Beazley Designs of the Year and Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World.

Friday 25 November

Hear from the new Design Museum's designer John Pawson in a first must-see talk. You will also have the opportunity to see new building and opening exhibitions which will be open to the public until 20.00.

Saturday 26 November

Attend a talk, take a tour of the new building or enjoy the many performances and activities on offer for all ages throughout the day. Event partners include the Royal College of Art and Arup.

Sunday 27 November

The Weekend Open events continue with workshops and performances, and five designers will compete for the prize for the best Riff on the Roof.

Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World

Fear and Love: Reactions to a Complex World presents eleven new installations by some of the most innovative and thought-provoking designers and architects working today.

Beazley Designs of the Year

Now in its ninth year, Beazley Designs of the Year celebrates design that promotes or delivers change, enables access, extends design practice or captures the spirit of the year.

Designer Maker User

Free Display: Designer Maker User will use the museum’s collection to look at the development of modern design through these three interconnected roles. It will be free to access.

Designers in Residence 2016: Open

Free Display: The museum asked designers to submit creative responses to this year’s theme OPEN. This year's residents are Rain Wu, Alix Bizet, Clementine Blakemore and Andrea de Chirico.
