Design Camps for children and young people

Our Design Camps are fun and engaging in-person creative workshops suitable for children aged 8 – 11 and young people aged 11 – 14.

October camps

Design Camp: Strange Designs (Halloween) for 8 to 11 year olds

Inspired by spooky Halloween imagery and unusual objects from the museum’s handling collection, this workshop will encourage children to rethink, redesign and create their own designs that challenge convention.

Design Camp: Digital Illustration for 11 to 14 year olds

A creative one-day workshop for young people to learn the fundamentals of digital illustration using Photoshop, explore principles of visual design and produce their own digital artworks inspired by the museum’s architecture.

Design Camp: Wearable Paper Sculpture for 8 to 11 year olds

In this creative workshop, children will explore the art of paper sculpture guided by artist Peter Ayres. Through hands-on exercises, they’ll discover craft techniques that transform simple sheets of paper into elegant, curving forms.

Design Camp: Patch and Badge Making for 11 to 14 year olds

In this creative workshop led by fashion designer Sadie Williams, young people will learn to design and make patches and badges to apply on upcycled fabrics using heat-transfer inks and metallic foils.

Design Camp: Digital Illustration for 8 to 11 year olds
