Design Museum Academy Children's Workshop

Design Camp: Architectural Drawing for 8 to 11 year olds

Discover new ways to draw and learn more about buildings and cities through this workshop on architectural drawing.

What to expect

This workshop will explore drawing and experimenting with different media to create a set of large and small-scale drawings on paper to take home. Participants will try out perspective, scale, colour, light and texture in their drawings.

Drawings will be made of real and imagined buildings. Throughout the workshop, they will discover architecture and the work of architects from across the world and a range of cultures. These will inspire their drawings and help them design a building of their own.

Children will discover:

• How to draw buildings at different scales, 3D and from different angles

• Experiment in a variety of media on paper

• How to design and communicate ideas through your drawings

• Learn more about architecture and cities from across the world

• Understand how architects design
