Design Camps

Cancellation and refunds policy:

The refunds and cancellation policy will depend on the notice that is given in the event of cancellation by the person who has made the booking, and cancellation charges will vary on this basis.

Our courses are in high demand so please consider your availability before booking and give as much notice as possible so that other children and young people can benefit from the workshops. Notice of cancellation needs to be provided in writing to learning@designmuseum.org and it will be valid when acknowledged in writing by the organisation. If notice of cancellation is provided to another email address or by telephone, it might not be valid.

• If cancellation is requested up until 28 calendar days before the activity, a refund will be issued to the participant.

• If cancellation is requested up until 10 working days before the activity, the museum can issue a refund only if the workshop is sold out and the ticket can be sold to another participant. If the place does not get sold, the participant will not be entitled to a refund but can exchange their ticket for a credit* for the full value of the ticket.

• If cancellation is requested up until 5 working days before the activity begins, the participant will not be entitled to a refund. The participant will only be able to exchange their ticket for a credit* for the full value of the ticket if the museum can sell the ticket to another participant once all the tickets have sold out. If the ticket is not sold, the participant can exchange their ticket for a credit for 50% of the ticket value.

• If cancellation is requested up until 2 days before the activity begins, the participant will not be entitled to a refund. The participant will only be able to exchange their ticket for a credit for 50% of the ticket value if the museum can sell the ticket to another participant once all the tickets have sold out. If the ticket is not sold, the participant won’t be entitled to a refund or credit.

• If cancellation is requested less than 2 working days before the activity begins, the participant will not be entitled to a refund or credit. This is because a specific place and materials have been reserved for the participant, which the museum will not be able to fill or resell.

• If the participant fails to attend the course and does not give prior written notice of cancellation, they will not be entitled to a refund, credit or transfer.

Tickets can be transferred to another child or young person at the discretion of the course management if the museum is given notice in writing up to 2 working days ahead of the date.

These terms and conditions still apply in cases of cancellation by the customer due to circumstances outside of the participant’s or the museum’s control, such as transport strikes or disruptions, illness or medical appointments and caring arrangements of dependents falling through. The museum cannot be responsible for travel arrangements or expenses incurred to travel to the museum.

*A Design Museum Academy credit can be used towards another Learning activity (such as courses, talks or workshops) or towards pre-booked exhibition tickets. If the full credit value is not utilised in one transaction, the remaining credit value will be forfeited. If the value of the new workshop (or exhibition tickets) is greater than the credit, then the participant will need to pay the difference. Credits will expire after 12 months from the date of issue.

In case of changes or cancellations by the museum:

We will do our best to ensure that courses take place as advertised but we reserve the right to make changes or cancellations.

In exceptional cases, the museum will have to cancel a course, such as in cases of the tutor’s illness or if there are not enough participants for the course to take place. If the museum needs to cancel an activity, participants will be refunded the full price paid for their ticket.

The museum will not be responsible for any additional costs incurred because of the cancellation of its activities.
