Design Museum Academy Adult Workshop
Workshop: Terrazzo Casting
Learn how to cast terrazzo using jesmonite into silicone moulds to make your own coasters in this creative workshop led by RubinoWilson studio.
Terrazzo was created when resourceful Venetian mosaic workers discovered a way to reuse marble remnants. With odd-size chips, they began to build terraces around their living quarters.
Using jesmonite, get creative to design a colour palette, learn how to mix and add pigment to the resin, and cast your own coaster design into a pre-made mould.
This more sustainable material is a versatile non-toxic gypsum-based resin, making it safe to work with.
Once sanded and sealed, the coasters will be ready to take home and use.
No previous experience is required.
All equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided for the duration of the session.
