Workshop: Enzo Mari Lino Printing
In this introductory workshop led by artist Georgia Bosson, learn how to create a reduction lino print inspired by iconic Italian designer Enzo Mari's work and ethos.
What to expect
Collectivism, open-source design, joyfulness and generosity were key components of Enzo Mari’s design philosophy. In a traditional workshop, individuals create a design idea that is worked on in isolation, and then take home to store in their personal archives. In this collaborative workshop, participants will have an opportunity to work within the philosophy of Enzo Mari whilst learning a new skill by learning and experimenting with the technique as an individual, whilst sharing knowledge with others and working towards a unified outcome.
In this 2.5-hour workshop, learn how to lino print onto paper and create your own reduction lino cut to take home. However, the imagery created during this workshop will be also form part of a shared outcome. All participants will be asked to print two copies of their design – one to keep and a second for a print swap within the workshop group.
• This workshop is suitable for all adults 18+, including beginners.
• Light refreshments and all materials will be provided for the duration of the session. You will leave with your own carved lino block for future use, print tests, plus one print of your work and one piece made by another person in the workshop.
• The workshop includes a visit to the exhibition 'Enzo Mari curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist with Francesca Giacomelli' on the same day following the museum's opening hours.
Facilitator
Georgia Bosson
Bosson is a print and product designer specialising in textiles. Her collections combine hand screen printed textiles and timber products with quilting and embroidery. Her creative process is craft-led with drawing and paper stencil screen prints forming the backbone of her research. Inspired by finding patterns in unexpected places, from British beaches to Mexican churches, she seeks to create a fresh and contemporary yet timeless aesthetic. Visit @georgiabosson
