London School of Architecture Show and Tell: Ideas for London
This year’s final Show & Tell by the London School of Architecture (LSA) will unveil the work of the LSA’s five Design Think Tanks, all of which are offering daring new urban proposals for London.
The London School of Architecture opened in October 2015, and each month the Design Museum has hosted a Show & Tell featuring high-profile speakers from the school’s network of collaborators. The final in this series, the Summer Show & Tell, gives this platform to the school’s trailblazing first cohort. Since January they have been working in five Design Think Tanks, which are practitioner-led groups all of which are offering daring new urban proposals for London. The Think Tanks are:
Architectural Agency: Architectural Agency is ED/GY – Ethical Dwellings for Generation Y – a group of Millennials trying to solve the housing crisis for Millennials.
Unstable City: Unstable City is recalibrating Rotherhithe to benefit from new organisations of economic, political, social and environmental instability.
New Knowledge: New Knowledge has formed SWARM – a cross-disciplinary network of young professionals who connect with people and places to proactively change London.
Emerging Tools: Emerging Tools will present how new technologies allow for greater ‘entanglement’ that enables new creative clusters for living and working
Adaptive Typologies: Adaptive Typologies creates an intergenerational city that unites older and younger citizens in an urban realm enriched by farming and wilderness.
Each Design Think Tank will talk for 10 minutes, and then the group will move downstairs to the museum’s Riverside Hall to discuss the issues over a drink. This event is presented in association with RIBA Journal and is part of the London Festival of Architecture. The London School of Architecture Show and Tells will return at the new Design Museum in 2017.
Tickets include entry to the Cycle Revolution exhibition before the talk begins. Doors will open at 18:15. The Cycle Revolution exhibition will be open for ticket holders to view between 18:15 and 19:00, and will then close. The talk will start at 19:00 and last for 1 hour 30 minutes. Following the talk there will be a chance to receive a free drink in the café and the museum will close at 21.30. This event will be filmed and recorded for use on the Design Museum and London School of Architecture online and web platforms.
