Evening Talk
At 19:00, join us for a celebratory evening with acclaimed filmmaker Wes Anderson as he discusses his extraordinary career, iconic style, extensive archive, creative collaborations, and the art of cinematic storytelling. Location: Level -1: Bakala auditorium.

From the pastel-hued frames of The Grand Budapest Hotel to the distinctive charm of Moonrise Kingdom and the intricate storytelling of Asteroid City, Anderson will share personal insights into his creative process, inspirations, and the evolution of his unmistakable aesthetic. Whether you're a lifelong fan or curious newcomer, this event is a must-attend for anyone passionate about the magic of film.

The talk will be introduced by the exhibition’s co-curator and Head of Curatorial and Interpretation, Dr Lucia Savi, and chaired by the exhibition's co-curator and Conran Foundation Chief Curator, Johanna Agerman Ross.

Speakers

Wes Anderson

Wes was born in Houston, Texas. His films include Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Isle of Dogs, The French Dispatch and Asteroid City, as well as the short film compilation The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Three More. His latest film, The Phoenician Scheme, was released on May 30 by Focus Features.

Johanna Agerman Ross

Johanna Agerman Ross was appointed the Conran Foundation Chief Curator at the Design Museum in 2023. She was previously curator of twentieth century and contemporary furniture and product design at the V&A where she co-curated the new permanent gallery Design 1900-Now and launched Make Good: Rethinking Material Futures, focused on design and the climate emergency. She founded the international design journal Disegno in 2011, which she edited for five years. She is still Disegno’s director.

Lucia Floriana Savi

Lucia is a curator, historian and writer. She is Head of Curatorial and Interpretation at the Design Museum, London where she co-curated the retrospective exhibition on Wes Anderson and co-edited the accompanying catalogue. In 2021 she curated the V&A exhibition Bags: Inside Out and authored its accompanying publication. Dr Savi has a PhD from Kingston University, UK, on Italian fashion and textiles. She has contributed to fashion and design exhibitions and their catalogues.
