Landscapes of the Future
New technologies continue to transform our relation to the city. Artist, designer & innovator Daan Roosegaarde explores the social role of design in our urban world, presenting his unique approach and vision for the future.
From drone delivery to smart surveillance, new technologies continue to transform our life in the city. And from over-crowding to dangerous levels of pollution, the city also presents some of the most urgent challenges facing humanity. With the majority of humanity now living in the urban world, how should design shape the city of the future?
Through innovative light installations, smart highways, and air filters that create jewellery from smog, artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde explored the role that technology should play in creating our cities. In this talk, he examines some of the major challenges facing today’s urban world, discussing the social role of design, the importance of beauty and his vision for the future.
