Exploring the design DNA of the Museum Book now

Fonts on Foot tour

Typography has a huge influence on our ability to process text, but it may also alter our understanding of its meaning. This tour explores the communication system adopted by the Museum that not only helps to improve the quality of the visitor experience, but also creates a stimulating environment for interpreting its collection.

What to expect

We will explore each graphic system that is part of the design DNA makeup of the Museum, from Cartlidge Levene’s use of Otl Aicher’s seminal pictograms to HATO’s emoji animations for Designs of the Year. Visitors will not only explore how the graphic icons recall the building’s own identity, but also become museum objects themselves.

The tour will be 30 minutes and visitors will be invited to explore how the Museum’s use of typography, colours and icons can reflect how design operates in the everyday.
