London-based designer, Beatrix Ong has won critical acclaim, the receipt of the Freedom of the City of London in 2012 and a MBE on Her Majesty The Queen’s 2011 New Year’s Honours list in recognition of her services to British Fashion. In 2002, Beatrix Ong launched her eponymous shoe range, which quickly garnered significant attention and became available in the world’s most prestigious stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, Liberty, Luisa via Roma, and Dover Street Market (for which she developed an exclusive collection). Her collections landed her a place on the Independent newspaper’s Top 10 Leading Shoe Designers list, alongside Manolo Blahnik. Ong has collaborated with some of the world’s most respected designers, brands and artists. Special edition projects included collaborations with luxury travel case maker, Globe-Trotter and sports brand Nike with her collectable Nike Blazers. In 2015, Ong was a member of the delegation of His Royal Highness Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge to China as part of the GREAT Festival of Creativity.
Born and educated in London, Suzanne Trocmé spent many years between New York and Paris as well as in London working as a journalist writing on the subjects of art, architecture and design. Publications include the New York Times magazine, Architectural Digest, the Saturday Telegraph and Wallpaper* magazine where, previously Architecture and Design Editor, she currently holds the position Editor at Large. Author of numerous books including the award-winning Influential Interiors, Fabric and Classic Chic, Trocmé also became a furniture designer in 2006 producing a contemporary range of furniture for the American firm Bernhardt Design which finds its place in the hospitality market, in airports, restaurants, hotels and corporate offices. Trocmé won the Gold award at NeoCon Chicago for her first furniture collection and has won awards since including a Red Dot and a Guggenheim award (Interior Design magazine) for her Allée chair. Curator of the London Design Festival pan-London for a period of three years, other curatorial exploits include the exhibition Digital Crystal at London’s Design Museum in 2012 and more recently Born in the USSR, an exhibition of Russian design and Middle East Revealed in London, September 2014 and a second edition of Middle East Revealed in Milan 2015. Currently working on an upcoming design festival in Dubai, Trocmé also presents radio about current affairs on BBC Radio London.
