For college and FE students Important Information
Your Studio workshop descriptions
Below is further information about the two Your Studio workshop options for Level 3/ FE students.
This workshop emulates the experimental processes and playful rigour of the professional design studio. It draws on creative stories and strategies inspired by the museum’s Designer Maker User exhibition, and supports students to develop key creativity and employability skills, including time management, teamwork and communication.
Students work together in a supportive, but fast-paced atmosphere to unpack problems and build a design brief
They develop ideas through analogue rapid prototyping using a wide assortment of materials chosen to capture the imagination and test functionality
In a culminating crit, students reflect on their process and consider how divergent thinking and playfulness can enhance the level of innovation, user-centredness and commercial viability of their designs.
This exclusive workshop offers Level 3 vocational learners the chance to work on a realistic brief with the Design Museum as their client, drawing on the institution, its exhibitions, services and users as a context for designing.
