What to expect

The Laundry Arts is a platform centred on counter-culture. They work with both global and local artists through curatorial and collaborative means, whilst keeping community at its core. The aim of The Laundry Arts is to decentralise western ideologies and raise the voices of people on the periphery of society.

The Laundry Arts have curated a short programme of readings and music from artists within their creative network, responding to themes of memories, monuments and women.

Biographies

Georgina Johnson

The Laundry Arts was founded by multidisciplinary Artist Georgina Johnson, aka Saint Lovie, to challenge modes of access into the creative industries by people of colour; more specifically creatives from Black, MENA and South Asian backgrounds. Georgina is a polymath whose career has spanned film direction, curation, design and more. She was commissioned by The Photographers Gallery and Now Gallery in 2017 and 2018. @saint_lovie @thelaundryarts

Evar Hussayni

Evar is a multi-disciplinary artist, curator, the founder of Idê Projects and the Culture Editor of AZEEMA Magazine. She is currently completing her MA in Postcolonial Culture and Global Policy. Her work prioritises creating the visibility and inclusion for women, especially the voices of Middle Eastern women. @evarhussayni

DJ and creative. Founder of Release Nights and 1/5 of Born N Bread, a creative collective of friends from South London, who head up a bi-weekly music and lifestyle show on NTS. @stephseeks

Abondance Matanda

Abondance is a London-based, arts and culture writer and poet. London largely informs her subject matter and subversive, colloquial voice. Language, girl- hood, class and blackness are themes she addresses and dissects in her work, as well as other ideas pertaining to identity. @abondance_
