The Arrangement of Furniture in a Museum

The Design Museum marks thirty years of leading design manufacturer and retailer SCP with a display of more than forty pieces spanning the company’s history.

What's in the display?

Composed by long-time SCP collaborator Michael Marriott, The Arrangement Of Furniture In A Museum brings together a collection of prototypes, originals, re-issues and new products, each of which is displayed on top of a piece of specially sourced non-SCP furniture.

Highlights of the objects on show at the Design Museum include Jasper Morrison’s 1986 Slatted stool, James Irvine’s 1996 Archiver and Konstantin Grcic’s 1996 Prado desk and 1995 Mono tables. Each individual pairing is presented as a small design conversation around form, material and texture. The show highlights product typologies, the relationships between things and the layers in between, while also exploring the history and characters behind the company.
