Babylon Berlin title design

Set in the Weimar Republic, the neo-noir crime drama Babylon Berlin follows a young police commissioner’s secret investigation into the city’s criminal underbelly. It was the most expensive TV show ever produced in Germany.

The title sequence for the first and second series features Art Deco-style typography that shifts in colour and a kaleidoscopic sequence of clips.

The hypnotic effect it creates – in interplay with the music – evokes the unsettling nature of life in 1920s Berlin.

Design: Saskia Marka.
Music: Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer.
Production Company: X Filme Creative Pool.
