Designers: Yara Said with The Refugee Nation for Amnesty International Graphics category

The Refugee Nation flag

Created to mark the participation of the first ever refugee team in the 2016 Olympics.

Yara’s simple and striking design became an act of hope, and an emblem for refugee athletes who marched to a new anthem, watched by millions globally. This design story is also about one woman’s experience transcending her situation and creating an enduring symbol in the face of an intolerable global crisis.
