Changing Spaces: Habitat Lates Event

Marlow is Chief Executive and Director of the Design Museum. Formerly Artistic Director of the Royal Academy of Arts and Director of Exhibitions at White Cube, Marlow has been involved in the contemporary art world for the past thirty years as a curator, writer and broadcaster. He has worked with many of the most important and influential artists of our time to deliver wide-ranging and popular programmes and brings a commitment to diverse and engaging exhibitions to his new role showcasing the transformational capability of design. Marlow sits on the Board of Trustees for the Imperial War Museum, the Design Age Institute and Cultureshock Media. Marlow was awarded an OBE in 2019.

Tanner is Head of Design at Habitat. Graduated in Craft, Specialising in Ceramics from the University of Brighton. Tanner has been an industry consultant, designer, mentor and author over the last 23 years, with a passion and empathy for combining original design for retail whilst exploring different craft and manufacturing processes. Tanner has sold his collections in many design retailers both in the UK and worldwide and through galleries, fashion design houses, department stores and museums of modern art. As Head of Design for Habitat, he leads a dedicated team of 21 designers who create furniture, accessories, and product. Tanner is also the Industry Brand Ambassador for Design Nation, the UK’s largest support portfolio for established and emerging designers.

Hutcheson is Senior Homewares Designer at Habitat. A stickler for form and function, Hutcheson believes good design is simple, useful and elegant. After studying 3D design at Leeds Metropolitan University Hutcheson has been working with manufacturers across the globe creating furniture and homeware for the past 15 years. An ambassador for authentic design and craft, championing the story behind each product.

Brewster is a Guest Designer for Habitat's 60th Anniversary Collection. Strongly grounded in craft, London-based Brewster uses her creative output as a voice to celebrate and share windows into varied Black female narratives and histories. Her works continuously play with scale, materiality and architecture. Having delved into the Habitat archives, she painted a harmonious narrative of colour, shape and pattern, translated into these abstract hand-tufted wool rugs made in India.

Morby is Senior Design Editor at Hypebeast. A writer and editor based in London, Morby has spent the past decade writing for some of the world’s leading design and architecture magazines. She has previously held editor positions at both Dezeen, and Wallpaper*, and has had bylines in publications including Crafts, Domus, The Spaces, Design Anthology and The Guardian.

Habitat is led by Product Director Hannah Mallett and is proud to fly the flag of British design with a talented in house-design studio comprising over 20 experts in their own fields from ceramicists and illustrators, to upholstery specialists and print designers.
