Ardagh Young Creatives x Resolve
Are you aged 14 – 25 and curious about furniture design? Do you consider yourself underrepresented in the design and creative fields? Join this collaborative workshop with Resolve Collective to learn how to make a seat inspired by the pioneering designer and artist Enzo Mari.
What to expect
Have you ever thought about what a seat is, and how it can reflect someone's identity?
In this hands-on workshop led by RESOLVE Collective, learn how to design and build a unique seat for yourself, as part of a collective, using salvaged wood. The session will encourage each participant to express their personality whilst collaborating with a group, and create a place to gather. No experience necessary.
This session will include a visit to our exhibition Enzo Mari curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist with Francesca Giacomelli to discover one the greatest Italian designers of the 20th century, whose ideas have inspired generations of creatives around the world. Enzo Mari believed that furniture should expose the design process, be simple, useful and for everybody, and we do too.
This workshop is for young people aged 14 – 25, and we encourage those who are currently underrepresented in the design and creative industries to attend, especially those who are care experienced, young carers, those on free school meals or pupil premium, young people of colour, and those with a disability or neurodivergence.
This event is aimed at equipping young people with a useful skill to add to their portfolio, spark their creativity, and offer them the opportunity to meet professionals from different design disciplines and creative fields.

RESOLVE
RESOLVE Collective is an interdisciplinary design collective founded by Akil Scarfe-Smith and Seth Scarfe-Smith that combines architecture, engineering, technology and art to address social challenges. Much of their work aims to provide platforms for the production of new knowledge. An integral part of their practise involves designing with and for young people and under-represented groups in society. They see design as more than its aesthetic value; it is also a mechanism for political and socio-economic change.
