The Future of the Car
The rise in electric and self-driving cars, alongside advances in artificial intelligence, data analytics and smart technologies, are transforming how we drive and having a major impact on the automotive industry.
In cities, car-sharing services like Uber are becoming the preferred method of transport among young people who are becoming increasingly reluctant to learn to drive.
In this new age of mobility, traditional automakers have to adapt to remain relevant and desirable to consumers. If these trends continue, could car ownership disappear altogether? What are the wider social and ethical implications of autonomous vehicles? And what can design do to safeguard the future of the car?
