Ewa Justka: New Music New Functionalities
Join electronic artist Ewa Justka and Yuri Suzuki in this salon and performance exploring new forms of instrument-making and sound practice.
Curated by the sound designer and electronic musician Yuri Suzuki, discover the work of creative practitioners breaking new ground within music and sound design.
This two-part session includes a presentation from Yuri Suzuki on aspects of sound design engineering and electronics followed by an experiment where participants will test electronic devices to reveal hidden sounds and frequencies. After a short break, electronic acid-technoise artist, and self-taught instrument maker, Ewa Justka will discuss her unique approach to electronic instrument-making and conclude with an experimental sound performance.
Those attending should bring a small battery-powered domestic electronic device with them – i.e. a clock, a handheld whisk, a radio etc.
New Music New Functionalities is part of a wider series of performances and talks curated by the quarterly design journal Disegno to celebrate Suzuki’s Furniture Music exhibition at the Stanley Picker Gallery in Kingston upon Thames.
