What will the world look like when we have a generation of makers who see technology as a tool for creativity and problem solving? With more technology in our lives, and ever increasing creative potential, can it empower the next generation to reassess what they are capable of. Can designers think afresh about instigating the creativity today's complex world requires?

Tickets include entry to the Designs of the Year exhibition before the talk begins. Doors will open at 18:30. The Designs of the Year exhibition will be open for ticket holders to view between 18.30 and 19:00, and will then close. The talk will start at 19:00 and last for 1 hour.

What's the talk about?
With words like ‘digital native’ and ‘millennial’ becoming part of everyday language, this talk offers a chance to pause and reflect on how technology is not only altering the individual but the whole landscape of production and learning. It will ask is technology affecting how creative skills are learned and what exactly technology should need to save us from anyway.
Solving these questions and proposing new ones are often fall to the designer, but how can companies and start-ups balance commercial and cultural demands and can we value the new skills being learned against the old?
Tackling these complex issues are a range of experts including technology and craft journalists, young tech entrepreneurs and design educators. Answers are not promised, but more questions are guaranteed.

Bethany Koby
Bethany has been creating innovative relationships between brands and communities for well over 10 years. In 2012, Bethany co-founded Technology Will Save Us - a business dedicated to sparking the imagination of young people using hands-on technology. In 2014, she was selected by Wired in 2014 as one of the 'designers that matter’.
James Temperton
James Temperton is a reporter for WIRED.co.uk, covering the future of science, technology and business. He's covered consumer technology for the past five years, covering and critiquing the objects that increasingly shape our lives. James has previously worked for ComputerActive, Expert Reviews and Computer Shopper.
Teleri Lloyd-Jones
Teleri Lloyd-Jones has been deputy editor of Crafts magazine for over eight years. Having graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters in History of Design, she published her first book, Design: David Mellor in 2009.
Anab Jain
Anab Jain is a designer, filmmaker, and founder of Superflux, a critically acclaimed research and design company. Her work has won awards from Apple Computers Inc., UNESCO, and ICSID, and has been exhibited at MoMA New York, Science Gallery Dublin, National Museum of China and V&A Museum. She is a TED Fellow and graduate of the Royal College of Art.
