A Design Dynasty: Camper Then and Now

Join Design Museum Director Deyan Sudjic as he reflects on forty years of a design dynasty with Camper’s Miguel Fluxa and longtime collaborator Martí Guixé. In today’s fast moving globalised world, Camper has retained an original and highly imaginative approach making its brand and its shoes. This talk will unpack archives, memories, and ideas with the man who made it happen.

Life on Foot marks the 40 year anniversary of the creative Spanish footwear brand Camper, with an exhibition that gives an unprecedented picture of how a shoe collection is researched, created and presented - from the carving of the last to the graphics on the box.

To mark this important moment for design, this talk will bring together the protagonist of the story, Miguel Fluxa in conversation with Museum Life on Foot Director Deyan Sudjic. Whilst the exhibition showcases Camper’s traditional shoemaking skills and contemporary design ethos, this talk will reflect on forty years of the brand documenting the story of this family business from humble its beginnings to today’s global brand.
