Schools projects

A selection of projects that the museum has run in partnership with schools to explore design learning.

Hair by Hood

Students and teachers from Harris Girls Academy East Dulwich and Northwood School worked with Designer in Residence Alix Bizet to create clothing from human hair. Alix's work got students to think about the cultural diversity of their area as represented through the different types of hair texture and colour.

The groups help Alix to create her hoodies that culturally represented their area. Their Hair by Hood.

The exhibit formed part of the opening offer of the Design Museum which was seen by upwards of 300,000 people in it's lifespan.

Play Design - Outreach

Working with five schools in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the Design Museum worked with [Re]Design to create a series of outreach sessions that looked a the design and manufacture behind toys.

Students stripped toys down to their components and knolled the parts that came out of them.
