Design Museum Academy Adult Workshop

Workshop: Typographic Poster Design

Explore typographic poster design in this hands-on workshop inspired by the work of artist Harland Miller. Learn design principles and typography fundamentals, work on a digital design using Adobe Photoshop, and then transform it into a unique typographical collage.

What to expect

Join this creative workshop to learn design principles and typography fundamentals, work on a digital design using Adobe Photoshop, and transform it into a unique typographical collage.

Drawing on Harland Miller's distinctive approach to the written word, this full-day workshop will blend digital skills with tactile techniques. You'll get an understanding of typographical hierarchy, font types and design principles before using digital software to create your own poster design. After printing your work, you'll develop it further through collage techniques, combining digital precision with hands-on activities to produce an original typographical artwork to take home.

  • Fundamentals of typographic design

  • Digital drawing skills with Adobe Photoshop
