DESIGN MUSEUM ACADEMY Adult workshop

Workshop: Design and Screen Print your own Brand

Join this workshop led by Stu Smith, founder of Lovenskate, to experiment with screen printing. Go from the design concept to the print process to start building your visual identity – be it a brand or self-expression.

What to expect

In this workshop, learn about the creative side of the skateboard industry with Lovenskate’s owner, Stu Smith, who will share stories of his entrepreneurship. Discover how Lovenskate evolved from simply printing zines and t-shirts in his garage into a business supporting a team, all without losing its DIY ethos.

After a short history lesson on the roll of ‘the skateboard graphic’ within its subculture, you will learn how to transfer your thoughts and ideas to paper, concentrating on image and text layout to create your own company logo or shape your ideas visually. Discover how you can reproduce your design in a simple way using screen printing and get your brand out there.

Using a wide range of media and inspiration, you will be taken through the process of design, layout and stencil cutting. Participants will be able to print their own graphic design on a t-shirt. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with your company’s first product.

PLEASE NOTE:

• Light refreshments and equipment will be provided upon arrival.

• All equipment and materials will be provided for the duration of the session.

• Your workshop ticket will include same-day visit to our SKATEBOARD exhibition.
