What to expect

Join us for a special screening of London Weekend Television's 1980 documentary '20th Century Box' featuring Spandau Ballet and other key Blitz Kids, as part of our Blitz: the club that shaped the 80s exhibition programme.

Following the screening, Gary Kemp, Steve Norman and John Keeble will join us for a live Q&A, with Design Museum Director Tim Marlow, offering audiences the opportunity to hear first-hand reflections on the film and the wider cultural moment it explores.

This film was one of a series, '20th Century Box', produced by Janet St Porter. Its first and only previous broadcast was in London on Sunday 13 July 1980. It has not been seen publicly or broadcast in its entirety since.

It features interviews with members of Spandau Ballet and key members of the Blitz scene including Robert Elms, Chris Sulivan, Ollie O’Donnel, Christos Tolera, Willie Brown and others, and features a performance by the band at the second of their Scala Cinema events on 13 May 1980. It is a fascinating time capsule shining a light on the Blitz Kids subculture.

This event ticket includes a visit to 'Blitz: the club that shaped the 80s' exhibition for Friday 27 February 2026.
