DESIGN MUSEUM ACADEMY Children's Workshop
Design Camp for ages 7 to 10: Coding and Interactive Storytelling
In this introductory workshop, children will learn the basics of coding by writing interactive stories inspired by the imaginative worlds and style of film director Wes Anderson, and turn those stories into simple text‑based video games using the Twine coding engine.
In the morning, participants will visit our 5-star exhibition Wes Anderson: The Archives, to get inspiration from Anderson's characters and unique aesthetics before creating their own stories.
After lunch, the children will learn about the coding engine Twine to build their interactive game worlds, exploring coding concepts such as Booleans, if & else statements and variables, to create short text-based immersive experiences.
This one-day course combines guided instruction, individual creative exploration and collaborative brainstorming.
Learning outcomes:
Learning about Anderson’s storytelling style and creative world-building
Basics of storytelling and narrative design
Basic coding concepts and how to apply them to logic problems
Visualising storylines and creating mapping frameworks
Gain confidence to use creative technologies
Please note:
This workshop includes a short visit to our exhibition 'Wes Anderson: The Archives'
