Loewe’s Creative Director Jonathan Anderson and Chairwoman Anatxu Zabalbeascoa discuss ethics in craft with the Design Museum’s Co-Director Deyan Sudjic.
Jonathan Anderson, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa and Deyan Sudjic examine notions of ethics and responsibility within contemporary craft practice. Spotlighting various projects in this year’s Loewe craft prize, the pair will explore how today’s changing world is impacting craft production, and how makers are responding.

Speakers
Jonathan Anderson established his fashion label JW Anderson in 2008. In 2013 he was appointed Creative Director of LOEWE presenting his Men’s and Women’s collections in Paris. In 2016, he conceived the LOEWE Craft Prize to acknowledge the importance of craft in today’s culture and recognise artisans whose talent, vision and will to innovate will set a standard for the future.
Architecture and design Critic at El País, art historian Anatxu Zabalbeascoa has published more than 15 books, from The New Spanish Architecture (Rizzoli New York, 1993) to Todo sobre la casa (Gustavo Gili, 2012). She has curated exhibitions at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and the MACBA in Barcelona and is now the Chairwoman at the Loewe Craft Prize Jury.
Deyan Sudjic is the Director of the Design Museum in London. His career has spanned journalism, teaching and writing. Deyan was director of Glasgow UK City of Architecture 1999 and in 2002 he was Director of the Venice Architecture Biennale. Deyan has published many books on design and architecture and was made an OBE in 2000.

The LOEWE FOUNDATION was established as a private cultural foundation in 1988 by Enrique Loewe, a fourth-generation member of LOEWE’s founding family. Today, the Foundation continues to promote creativity, organise educational programs and protect cultural heritage in the fields of poetry, dance, photography, design and craft. The Foundation was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts by the Spanish government in 2002.
