This demonstration is a speculative, futuristic lab set up, investigating the potential for fermentation on Mars. Half real, half fiction, this performed scenario explores the possibilities for human life on Mars, through an understanding of bacteria and their behaviour as a starting point for community.
On Earth, fermentation has existed spontaneously since the beginnings of life. Can it help us bring a sense of home to a seemingly hostile planet?

Nora Silva manufactures contexts and builds sculptural installations as a fiction from where to address political issues. She uses aesthetics as a prop for performances to happen within, often using gestures of irony, contradiction or frustration. Her practice is intimately linked to the social and utilises food very often as medium, material or process. norasilva.com
