Martian Meals

To celebrate the Design Museum’s forthcoming 'Moving to Mars' exhibition, join a Mars future food two-day drop-in session led by multi-disciplinary artists, Inês Neto dos Santos and Nora Silva.

Please note that this event is taking place on Exhibition Road.

What to expect

This demonstration is a speculative, futuristic lab set up, investigating the potential for fermentation on Mars. Half real, half fiction, this performed scenario explores the possibilities for human life on Mars, through an understanding of bacteria and their behaviour as a starting point for community.

On Earth, fermentation has existed spontaneously since the beginnings of life. Can it help us bring a sense of home to a seemingly hostile planet?
