Everyday Hacking with Jesse Howard
Join designer Jesse Howard to transform a series of domestic objects and learn the principles of open-source design in this hands-on workshop.
What to expect
How can we create objects for the home that can be made and repaired by anyone? Gain a unique insight into the maker movement and create your own domestic objects in this one-day workshop.
In the first part of the session, participants will be introduced to the principles of open-source design, before taking apart and analysing a selection of domestic objects. In this part of the day, you will develop your own design to transform an industrially produced fan into a new object for the home.
In the afternoon, participants will produce their transformed fan, using proto-typing, hacking, basic electronics and modelling. The day will also include free-entry and a group-tour with Jesse Howard of the Design Museum’s current exhibition Home Futures.
No prior knowledge or experience is required. All materials will be provided.
