Resources for teachers

Supporting the National Curriculum for Design and Technology and tailored for key stages 2 – 5, we offer students and educators design education facilities and workshops supporting a vibrant programme connected with the wider ecology of design practice, networks and communities.

Exhibition notes for teachers

Download teacher notes relating to our exhibition programme over the years. These teacher notes can stand alone, or provide inspiration for relevant discussions and activities to combine with a visit to the museum.

Online lesson plans

Nurture students' creativity and passion for design with these ready made lesson plans.

The Idea Machine

Generate a randomised design brief to share with your students and help them think about target users. The Idea Machine makes a great icebreaker activity or can serve as a jumping-off point for a full design process.

Discover designs and designers

Encourage your students to explore the stories of design objects and the people who created them. Includes Q&As with several leading figures in the design field, suggested further reading, timelines, and more.

Paper forms workshop video

Follow along with this hour long paper forms workshop led by designer and educator Haidée Drew.
