Step into the meticulously crafted world of one of cinema’s most distinctive storytellers in a conversation with two of his most celebrated collaborators. Chaired by the exhibition’s co-curator and Head of Curatorial and Interpretation, Dr. Lucia Savi, this conversation will dive into Andy Gent and Tristan Oliver’s creative processes behind some of Wes Anderson’s biggest films.

This conversation is part of the programme of Wes Anderson: the Archives. This landmark exhibition charts the evolution of Wes Anderson’s films from early experiments in the 1990s to recent productions as well as collaborations with key long-standing creative partners.
Speakers
As a cinematographer specialising in stop frame animation, Tristan's work with Wes Anderson has included, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Isle of Dogs and model unit work for The French Despatch, Asteroid City and Henry Sugar. His long collaboration with Nick Park includes, The Wrong Trousers, A Close Shave, Chicken Run and Curse of the Wererabbit. Other works include features, ParaNorman, Coppelia, Where is Anne Frank? and model unit on Poor Things.
Originally from Derbyshire, Andy moved to London in 1991 to train as an illustrator at Kingston University, where he first discovered animation. After freelancing in all areas of stop-motion fabrication, he found his passion in puppet design and construction. His most recent collaborations include Wes Anderson’s Isle of Dogs, Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Coraline. Gent runs his own puppet, character and set-making studio, Arch Model Studio Ltd.
Lucia is a curator, historian and writer. She is Head of Curatorial and Interpretation at the Design Museum, London where she co-curated the retrospective exhibition on Wes Anderson and co-edited the accompanying catalogue. In 2021 she curated the V&A exhibition Bags: Inside Out and authored its accompanying publication. Dr Savi has a PhD from Kingston University, UK, on Italian fashion and textiles. She has contributed to fashion and design exhibitions and their catalogues.
