Learning Garden event
Summer Garden Salon
Enjoy an afternoon in the museum's garden, filled with nature, design‑led conversations and workshops, alongside garden designer Lottie Delamain, artist and researcher Rosa Whiteley, and our Growing Together cohort.
Priority booking for members.
Our Garden Salons are seasonal gatherings that blend conversation and hands-on activities, exploring the connection between nature and design, taking place at our Dame Sylvia Crowe Garden.
This Summer Garden Salon, garden designer Lottie Delamain joins Assistant Curator of Public Practice Naomi Zaragoza in a conversation exploring Lottie’s new book 'Gardens that Can Save the World'. Following the talk, you will be encouraged to envision your own 'garden that can save the world' during a collage workshop. Learn about the design and ecology of Cornish chalk ponds with artist and researcher Rosa Whiteley, and get creative by making pond wildlife-inspired stamps.
This is an unmissable event for adults with an interest in how design can support ecologies, wildlife, community and climate impact.

14:05 – 'Gardens that Can Save the World' book presentation and Q&A with Lottie Delamain and Naomi Zaragoza

Guest speakers
Lottie is a garden designer and writer whose work explores how gardens can shape the way we live and care for the world. She runs a studio working across a range of scales and disciplines, from educational public installations for Kew Gardens, forward-thinking public realm projects in central London, or for North London charity GROW where she is a trustee. Her first book, Gardens That Save the World, explores how gardens can respond to challenges like climate change, biodiversity loss, and community wellbeing.
Rosa is an artist, writer, and researcher whose work explores food systems, ecology, and atmospheric politics. Tracing weather events, she examines environmental histories and land practices through installation, writing, and film. Her work has been shown internationally. She is a Design Researcher in Residence at the Design Museum, developing Chalkophiles on UK water politics. Formerly with Cooking Sections, she collaborates across disciplines and teaches architecture while pursuing research-driven, site-based projects.
Nao is a curator, cultural producer and gardener. As Assistant Curator of Public Practice she leads Growing Together, a community-based project exploring the intersections of design and nature. Other projects include the co-curation of Dwellings, Rehomed, a display re-imagining the birdhouse through design. Her interests focus on the nurturing of human and non-human communities through design, art and horticulture. She is a trained horticulturalist and studies at the British Academy of Garden Design.
