John Akomfrah (born 1957) lives and works in London. A hugely respected artist and filmmaker, his works are characterised by their investigations into memory, post-colonialism, temporality and aesthetics and often explores the experiences of migrant diasporas globally. Akomfrah was a founding member of the influential Black Audio Film Collective.

Elvira Dyangani Ose is Director of The Showroom. She is a member of the Thought Council at the Fondazione Prada and Lecturer in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths University. Previously she was Senior Curator at Creative Time where she curated Basilea, commissioned by Art Basel. She was Curator of the eighth edition of the Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary art (GIBCA 2015) and Curator, International Art at Tate Modern (2011 – 2014). She recently joined Tate Modern’s Advisory Council.
