SUPERLOCAL O miles Production Tour

The one-day tour/workshop invited people to explore North Kensington and the world of local production by learning and making. Participants met the local creative community and visited various studios, suppliers and manufacturers to learn about traditional and digital techniques of making. They had the chance to create their own stool using locally-sourced materials.

What to expect

An invitation to explore the world of local production by learning and making

The tour began at Goldfinger Factory, an award-wining design platform and social enterprise, located on the ground floor of the iconic grade-II listed Trellick Tower. Here participants visited the workshop and enjoyed lunch in their Sicilian cafe, before continuing afterwards to source materials from Portobello Road. Then off to the Future Factory, the group were shown an advanced CNC machine cutting the stool’s plywood parts. Following this demonstration, participants headed towards Kindred Studios where they got the chance to upholster and finish their stool.

“It really feels like the end product is the result of every one of these peoples’ expertise, put together by you” - Vittoria, previous participant
