Stanley Kubrick was fascinated with all aspects of design. He collaborated with the leading designers of his generation, from Hardy Amies to Saul Bass, Eliot Noyes, Milena Canonero, and Ken Adam to create costumes, film posters, props and sets for some of the most iconic scenes in cinema history.

Speakers

Marina Willer

Marina Willer is a graphic designer and film-maker and partner at Pentagram. She has led the design of major identities schemes for Tate, Southbank Centre, Serpentine Galleries, Oxfam, Nesta, Second Home, Amnesty International and Battersea dogs and cats home. Marina and her team designed the Ferrari exhibition for the Design Museum and the current Kubrick exhibition.

Rick Poynor

Rick Poynor is a writer, lecturer and curator specialising in design, photography and visual culture. He founded Eye magazine, co-founded Design Observer and contributes to many publications. He is Professor of Design and Visual Culture at the University of Reading.

Deyan Sudjic

Deyan Sudjic (OBE) is Director of the Design Museum in London. Previously, Deyan was Director of Glasgow UK City of Architecture (in 1999 and 2002), Director of the Venice Architecture Biennale, Editor of Domus Magazine, and Founding Editor of Blueprint Magazine.
