Fun for all the family!

Family Day: Design and Worldbuilding

Enjoy a day of hands-on making and creative discovery, inspired by the cinematic worlds of Wes Anderson and Thames & Hudson’s Mini Artists series.

What to expect

In this family day out, take part in short creative exercises, imagining your own characters and developing a world around them.

The activities will be inspired by Wes Anderson: The Archives, as well as Mini Designers - a book of creative projects inspired by designers from around the world, written by Joséphine Seblon and illustrated by Robert Sae-Heng.

Book a 75-minute slot to participate in short, facilitated workshops around the Design Museum. Outside of these timed slots, explore a range of free design exercises and discover the rest of the museum at your own pace.

Activities are designed for learners aged 5-11, though all members of the family are welcome.

On the day, bookers will enjoy a 15% discount on food and drink purchased in the museum, by showing the event ticket or wristband. If you wish to eat in the level 2 restaurant, we recommend reserving a table in advance. Please note these discounts cannot be combined with membership discounts.

Please note that admission to this Family Day is separate from entry to the exhibition Wes Anderson: The Archives. Exhibition tickets can be booked separately here.

Please note:

  • The facilitated workshops will start promptly at the advertised time, please arrive early to avoid missing out.

  • All materials and equipment will be provided.

  • Capacity is limited, we recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
