Teachers CPD - Creative approaches

The Design Museum invites 'Designer in Residence' Dr Helga Schmid and designer and author John Ingledew to share their approach to creativity.

John Ingledew will be signing copies of his book 'How to Have Great Ideas: A Guide to Creative Thinking and Problem Solving' which can be purchased at an additional cost on the day.

What can you expect?

This training session will focus on innovative ways to promote creativity and will look at the creative approaches used by professional designers.

Helga will be talking about her residency at the Design Museum, the process behind her work on display in the Designers in Residence gallery and her approached to the creative process as a whole.

John will look at techniques to get the creative juices flowing and uncluttering the mind ready to take on a new creative challenge.

As a delegate, you will learning about two designers work as well as learning some of their creative approaches behind the work that they do.

About the speakers

Dr Helga Schmid

Dr Helga Schmid is a design researcher, designer, curator and lecturer. She has worked as a researcher in the Architecture and Design department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. illustration, editorial and exhibition design. Her work has been exhibited and featured in publications, blogs and magazines worldwide, and she has received a number of international awards Dr Schmid is in the Design Museum's 2018 Designers in Residence cohort.

John Ingledew

John Ingledew has run creative projects with design and photography students for leading brands in Europe, America, Japan and China including Diesel, Converse, Superdry, Jigsaw, Paul Smith and ILLY. John designed and led photography and design courses at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London and the University of Gloucestershire, where he holds a Teaching Fellowship.
