GET INTO DESIGN… ONLINE
Project goes live: 23 July 2012 – 31 August

GET INTO...
THREE-DAY HALF TERM COURSES
Mon - Weds during school holidays
10.30am – 3.30pm (ages 12 - 16)
Get into… courses are available across the year during school holidays, aiming to encourage creative thinking and inspire young people to develop their interests in design. Through direct engagement with industry specialists and hands on design and make projects, the courses culminate in mini exhibitions to showcase and celebrate work produced by participants.
Working with JJAM Curators Collective twelve participants were challenged to look at ways to redesign an everyday object for the Get into Product Design course last year.
CREATIVE INTERPRETERS
Volunteering Programme 2011- 2012
As part of the Stories of the World Programme, the Creative Interpreters Volunteering Programme offered three young people the opportunity to gain insight and experience of co-creating museum activities at the Design Museum.
Working alongside the Learning Team, Rima Musa, Eloise Tomlinson and Kayleigh Tompson co-created and developed the Get Into... Design course programme. This included curating the content for our most recent Get Into... Footwear Design course in February 2012, developing a new Get Into... Design graphic identity with designers Alphabetical, and building online digital materials to document the programme and enhance its reach to our learning audiences.
Stories of the World, presents exciting museum exhibitions and projects across the UK, created by Young People. The project is led by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) in partnership with the London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG).
