GET INTO BIKE DESIGN
17-19 February 2014
10.30am - 3.30pm each day
Ages 12 – 16
Designer Ben Wilson will be programming and delivering this three day course. Ben has worked for and in collaboration with brands, designers and artists that include Puma, Nike, Eley Kishimoto and Gavin Turk. His work has explored themes such as movement, travel and efficiency, embedding curiosity into the heart of the design process. His portfolio of work provokes discussion and pushes us to consider our relationship with design in the everyday.
This three day course will take participants through Ben’s creative practice, challenging young people to think about bike design and user needs. What are bikes used for, how and why, and to ultimately create bespoke components to improve the cycling experience for different environments and people. Aiming to develop curiosity and surprise within the designing of things, participants will build prototype solutions and propose new ideas, culminating in a final exhibition on day three for family and friends.
