Industry Experts – Volunteer for Design Ventura

Design Ventura is an award-winning enterprise and design project for young people at secondary school. It places design skills in a real world context, developing student creativity and business understanding. The museum is looking for volunteers from the business and design sectors to inspire and support young people as they respond to a design brief, and provide your own real world knowledge.

Creative Interpreters Programme Volunteer Placements

Get into Design courses are delivered during school half term and summer breaks for young people aged 12-16 years. Working directly with industry specialists, participants spend three days gaining insight into design practice and explore their own creative processes through fun and challenging briefs through these design and make short courses. There is an opportunity for three volunteers aged 18-24 to help develop the museums Get into Design courses as part of the Young People’s Programme. This opportunity will run for a minimum of 18 volunteering days between September 2014 and March 2015, aimed at people interested in contemporary design and informal learning within museums. The age range to apply for these roles is 18-24 is to fulfil the specific requirements of the project.

Corporate Manager

The Design Museum’s Development department has a new vacancy for an experienced Corporate Manager to join its busy and successful team. The Corporate Manager is responsible for maximising income from sponsorship and strategic partnerships for the museum. The post holder will work closely with the Head of Development to deliver an ambitious corporate strategy for the capital campaign which supports the move to the new Design Museum in Kensington as well as ongoing revenue income for the museum’s dynamic and enterprising learning and exhibition programmes and other projects and activity.

Fundraising Coordinator

The Design Museum is looking for an enthusiastic Fundraising Coordinator to provide support within our busy fundraising and events team. The role will require the post holder to carry out a variety of administration and database management tasks and to have the ability to be flexible in working independently or as part of a team. The position of Fundraising Coordinator is a central role within the Design Museum’s Fundraising team. This role has the specific responsibility of ensuring that all aspects of administration, research and coordination for the day-to-day management and the team’s administrative tasks are executed in an accurate and timely manner demonstrating an ability to work to deadlines while maintaining high standards. The post holder is responsible for managing and maintaining Raisers Edge, the museums fundraising database and will need experience of using Microsoft Word and Excel, and have an aptitude for figures.
