The Drawing Gym
Taking the museum and its permanent collection as a starting point, this course introduces a range of drawing techniques for visualising and communicating your ideas. Over three weeks you will learn how to draw isometric projections, scale elevations, diagrams and more.
Discover the language of sketching: crating, estimating and using tracing paper over grids to make sketches.
An introduction to compelling techniques for thinking up and illustrating ideas using 2D and 3D diagrams.
Generate ideas based on first hand observations of the museum.
This course aims to boost your drawing confidence and is open to all levels. In addition to the sessions, a series of exercise sheets will be made available as a part of the course.
Trevor Flynn is Director of Drawing At Work. Founder of the Drawing Gym, he is a visiting lecturer at the Design Museum, The Architectural Association, Bath University and the Institution of Structural Engineers in London. He has illustrated a best selling cookbook and a book by Richard Curtis about the making of the Notting Hill film.
Peter Ayres’ work with the Design Museum includes creativity sessions for students and educators on the Design Ventura programme, as well as Sunday afternoon drawing workshops for young people. His skills for ideation, development, and delivery of special projects at all scales are visible in his work as co-director of Beep Studio.
