What to expect

Enjoy a creative workshop where you will learn how processors work using code to control electronics. At the end of the day, you will take home your very own Micro:Bit to continue to code and create.

Robotics challenges will vary from speed races to long jumping. There will be a full introduction to microcontrollers – small computers that can be inserted into electrical circuits to allow people to digitise the world around them.

From notes on paper to writing code on a computer, you will use creative coding to make the robots move. You will also hear about the history of robotics and how revolutions such as the internet of things may affect our lives in the future.

There will be presentations, gallery visits and opportunities for new inventions.

Please note that all equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided, but you must bring a packed lunch.

Testimonial from our previous Robot Olympics session

I liked playing and experimenting with code.

"It was very interactive with the Macbooks and the fact that we got to take home the Micro:Bit"
