This half-term, introduce your young people to the world of coding in this coding engine workshop with designer Joe Hoole where they will create a piece of interactive fiction.
Suitable for School Years 7 – 9.

How does choice affect the way a story is told?
Learn about how coding is used to give the player the ability to choose their path and use the coding engine Twine to create your own interactive narrative.
Discover the most interesting ways to create a narrative, the history of storytelling and find out why video games are the biggest revolution in fiction since the invention of the novel.
Facilitator
Joe is an Interaction Designer with half a decade of experience in the industry and skills honed in Visual Effects, Games Design, Programming, Robotics and Graphic Design. He is also a massive geek who loves 3D printing, laser cutting and anything that keeps him at the cutting edge of design and technology.

All equipment, materials and light refreshments will be provided, but you’ll need to bring a packed lunch.
For your safety, we are operating at a reduced capacity for our events. Increased cleaning has also been implemented across the museum. Face masks are mandatory unless exempt.

Please note that this workshop will be held in person at the Design Museum. However, in the event of strict COVID-19 restrictions, it will be streamed digitally and notification of the decision will be given one week ahead of the event.
