Mars: Should we stay or should we go?

The journey to Mars is set to become one of the greatest design challenges of our era. Should it be the ultimate adventure for our generation and generations to come? Join the debate in anticipation of the Design Museum’s forthcoming 'Moving to Mars' exhibition.

Please note that this event is taking place at the V&A.

What to expect

It is a truly interdisciplinary enterprise that will require new thinking in subjects as diverse as engineering, manufacturing, agriculture and even anthropology. However, with its ability to combine different disciplines and its emphasis on the human experience, design will play a pivotal role in the process. But should we even be going there? In advance of the Design Museum’s autumn exhibition Moving to Mars, join Design Museum Chief Curator Justin McGuirk and Earth and Planetary Scientist Professor Sanjeev Gupta for a discussion about why, how, and even if, we should be starting life on another planet.
