Making with Recycled Plastic

Join architecture collective Black Females in Architecture to create a series of objects and shapes using recycled plastic.

How can domestic plastic waste be transformed into useful new objects?

Taking inspiration from the Design Museum’s current exhibition David Adjaye: Making Memory, participants explore themes around identity, cultural memory and the politics of waste, whilst creating a series of objects using recycled plastic.

In this workshop, participants will:

• Draw, cut, colour, designs of patterns from your memories, experiences

• Visit the David Adjaye exhibition with BFA to discuss themes around identity, cultural memory & heritage

• Learn how to make with recycled plastic

• Come together to showcase objects in a temporary installation

All the materials used during the workshop will be provided and all abilities are welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring their own domestic plastic waste to better understand how this often discarded material can be transformed into a series of innovative new objects.
