The designer discussed her own work in relation to the themes and ideas by the exhibition. After the tour, there was an opportunity to explore the exhibition independently.

Bethan Laura Wood

Bethan Laura Wood obtained a MA in Design Products at the Royal College of Art, under the tuition of Jurgen Bey and Martino Gamper. Since graduating in 2009, Bethan has built a multidisciplinary practice characterised by material investigation, artisan collaboration, and a passion for colour and detail.

She was previously a Designer in Residence at the Design Museum. Her work has been exhibited at The V&A Museum of Childhood, Swiss Institute New York, Daelim Museum and MOT, Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo. She currently teaches on the MA in Luxury at ECAL, Switzerland. In 2016 Bethan was awarded the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award.

The offbeat designer gave a walking tour of the east London hangouts that inspire her work. Part of the NOWNESS series, Fear and Love—made in collaboration with the Design Museum— multidisciplinary designer Bethan Laura Wood toured some of the East London haunts that inspire her colourful practice and vibrant everyday.
