How can design foster freedom and playfulness for its users? How can we create objects and situations that promote activity and participation for social good?
During this talk, Amsterdam-based designer Tereza Ruller (The Rodina) provides an answer to these questions. Drawing on recent projects, she will propose the term “performative design” as a practice that draws on graphic design, events, bodies and action to effect social change.
This talk is part of School of Speculation, a nomadic critical design summer school founded by Pierre Shaw and Kishan San.
The Rodina (Tereza and Vit Ruller) is an Amsterdam based post-critical design studio with an experimental practice using performance art, play and subversion. The Rodina invents ways in which experience, knowledge and relations are produced and preserved.
School of Speculation is an independent and nomadic critical design school that aims to create new models of delivering higher education. Through partnerships between museums, galleries, libraries and other public institutions, SOS aims to build relationships between the diverse latent pedagogy in our cities to create a different kind of educational offer.
