Create and Make – February half term
What to expect
This February half-term, take part in a special activity created by Designer-In-Residence Hester Buck.
Join the Design Museum for an afternoon of playful paper-craft activities, suitable for the whole family, to build a model of a common community garden and green spaces for a tower block.
Common ground is land that everyone can use as they choose. How these spaces are designed and what activities happen on this land is decided by the people who use it. The large areas of green spaces that surround some social housing tower blocks are open to everyone, so some communities choose to use them as a common community garden.
During this February half term we will be building a playful paper model of a common community garden on a model of an estate.

Suitable for families with children aged 5-11 years.

Parents/guardians must remain with their children at all times

Hester Buck
Hester Buck is a member of the critical design practice, public works, a not-for-profit studio set up to explore the intersection between architecture, art, performance and activism. Hester’s current research celebrates green spaces within post-war social housing estates through workshops with local communities.
