London School of Architecture Show and Tell: Unpacking Urbanism

The London School of Architecture hold their second Show and Tell at the museum with Lucy Musgrave of Publica and Alessandra Cianchetta of AWP, discussing different approaches to urbanism and public space with Elsie Owusu and Will Hunter.

Tickets include entry to the Designs of the Year exhibition before the talk begins. Doors will open at 18:15. The Designs of the Year exhibition will be open for ticket holders to view between 18:15 and 19:00, and will then close. The talk will start at 19:00 and last for 1 hour 30 minutes.

The London School of Architecture’s monthly Show and Tell asks leading figures to give an insight in to how they design. For November, Lucy Musgrave of London-based public realm Consultancy Publica appears with Alessandra Cianchetta of the award winning and proactive AWP – one of France’s leading architecture practices. They are joined by Elsie Owusu OBE (Feilden+Mawson) for a panel discussion, chaired by London School of Architecture Director Will Hunter.

Alessandra Cianchetta

Alessandra Cianchetta is the leading architect and founding partner of AWP, an award-winning practice that works across scales and genres. Her work has been presented at venues worldwide such as MAXXI, Cité de l’Architecture, MoMA, the Storefront for Architecture & Art and has featured in NY Times, Le Monde, Wallpaper and The Guardian. Current projects include a 85,000 square-metre housing and mixed-use sector project in Lausanne, and Poissy Galore, a sequence of public buildings and follies set in a park by the Seine.

Lucy Musgrave

Lucy Musgrave is the founding Director of Publica and a leading practitioner in the fields of urbanism and the public realm. She has played a key advisory role in policy recommendations, strategic planning and urban design frameworks, and in the advocacy of design quality. Lucy is a current member of the HS2 design panel, NLA Sounding Board and is an external examiner at the Cass Faculty of Architecture. She has recently been a member of the WEP Public Realm Task Group and The Farrell Review.

Elsie Owusu

Elsie Owusu was a Partner at Feilden+Mawson Architects and is principal of her own practice, Elsie Owusu Architects. A Specialist Conservation Architect, her projects include the UK Supreme Court, London’s Green Park Station and transport projects in Ghana and Nigeria. Elsie is Vice Chair of the London School of Architecture.

Will Hunter

Will Hunter is the Founder and Director of the London School of Architecture. He trained as an architect at the Bartlett, UCL and at the Royal College of Art. He was previously the executive editor of The Architectural Review and editor of the monthly magazines of The Architects’ Journal and Building Design.
